what I’m into {May}

What I’ve been sewing

aster cover

:: I’m in the middle of sewing a wearable muslin of Colette’s newest release, the Aster blouse. So far I love the pattern and especially love that it’s unlike any other design in my stash. Stay tuned.

:: An online fabric order came last week, and my sewing ambitions for June are far greater than what my time will allow.

What I’ve been watching

moone boy

:: Moone Boy. Have you watched Moone Boy yet? You haven’t?! Wait until both you and your significant other are together, and go to Hulu and watch it. Josh and I watched the first season when Hulu released it two years ago, and fell in love. The third season just came out a couple of weeks ago. It’s about an 12-year-old boy and his imaginary friend (played by Chris O’Dowd) in late 1980s Ireland. It’s television gold. Gold.

:: Alias. Again. This show grows progressively more campy as the seasons progress, but there’s something about it that draws me back every now and again. And every time I watch it, I watch Sydney Bristow kick butt and think, “I am seriously out of shape.”

What I’ve been reading

:: I’ve found a delightful reading groove. I think some of my mojo might be attributed to the re-discovered energy of pregnancy’s second trimester, and I’ll take all of it I can get. Favorite recent reads include The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead, and Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I’m currently almost halfway through the fourth Outlander book and enjoying every minute.

:: Josh convinced me to buy my birthday present early this year, because I told him I wanted a Kindle Paperwhite. While I usually think buying early gifts detracts from the thrill of the actual holiday, I’m so glad Josh convinced me to go for this. I love it. (I certainly don’t read all of my books on the Kindle, but Amazon has great Kindle deals all the time, and I have several books queued up to read in my Kindle library. It’s great.)

:: Modern Mrs. Darcy’s annual summer reading guide. This blog is on my must-read-every-day list, and a few weeks ago, Anne released her summer reading picks. My to-read list about exploded.

:: “Uptown Funk.” I know, I know. Despite my deep-seated hatred for Bruno Mars, I find this song irresistible. Any time it plays I can’t help but dance. And if you have a fondness for Harry Potter, you must watch this parody.

:: Alavert-D. Allergy season is not kind to me. Itchy and watery eyes, itchy and runny nose, itchy throat. At least two or three times in the past week, my poor nose has been so itchy it’s bled. While Alavert can’t combat all the allergens assaulting my body, it does make them bearable. I just wish that in Oregon you didn’t need a prescription for it. Alas.

What have you been into this past month? (Or three if you’re like me and took a short blogging break?) Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? What’s on your summer reading list? What are you sewing? (Or otherwise creating?)

    I’ve seen Moone Boy a few times on our local PBS station and really enjoyed it! I’ve been looking for some good books to read- I’ll have to take a few books from your list….
    Allergies are the worst. I’m pregnant as well and they always seem to be worse for me during pregnancy.
