I kicked off the month with an entirely me-made ensemble: the Plantain shirt made in a lightweight interlock and the Manila leggings in a lycra/cotton blend lightweight interlock. So far it’s my favorite of the me-made looks I’ve sported so far. (Neither of these pieces is yet blogged, but they will be!)
Saturday, May 2, I actually spent most of my day in jeans and a Powell’s t-shirt, neither of which is handmade. But then when it came down to the wire and we had to leave for a barbecue, I swapped out my jeans for these houndstooth Manila leggings. And I love them. (Blogged here.)
Monday, May 4, I had some serious grocery shopping to do and decided that my trusty heather gray Mabel skirt was exactly what I needed. I honestly can’t get enough of these skirts. (Blogged here.) PSA: The Mabel pattern is currently 20-percent off at the Colette Patterns shop using the code MABELMONTH at checkout. That’s a steal!
Thursday, May 7, I wore a blouse I hadn’t seen in a long time. I wore it a few times last summer and just this week cleared out my closet and moved over a bunch of my spring/summer clothes. This blouse is a Simplicity pattern, and I’m currently too lazy to dig through my pattern stash to find the pattern number. I made this blouse two years ago when my basic sewing skills were still a little shaky, and even though the facing rolls to the front, I’m still quite smitten with this project. (Unblogged, as of now.)
If you’re participating in Me-Made-May, how has the first week gone for you? I’m finding that I don’t really have to try too hard to wear handmade clothing, and I love that! I’m posting my me-made outfits on Instagram as I wear them, so feel free to follow me there if you’re interested in more timely #mmmay15 updates!
