hello, Friday

Right now at this very moment I am in Utah visiting my sister and her family, and it’s glorious. I’m taking this trip sans toddler, so for the weekend I get to focus on being a sister and an aunt first. I’d tell you that I hope your weekend is as lovely as mine, but I don’t know if I can heap that expectation on you! Regardless, I hope your weekend is a lovely one, even if it might not be as luxurious as spending all your time with your long-distance sister.

{This Instagram post of mine this week garnered an unexpected amount of response. I got this Fiestaware gravy boat for Christmas, and its first use was to house buttermilk caramel syrup. I got a surprising amount of support in that decision. I was basically having candy for dinner.}

:: Parenthood. The series finale was last week, and it was such a wonderful finale. But Parenthood‘s close begs the question: Is this the last show of its kind?

:: Harper Lee. This summer, life-long recluse is releasing a sequel to her single and seminal work, To Kill a Mockingbird. The manuscript for the book, Go Set a Watchman, was actually written before To Kill a Mockingbird. I feel the roots of my substantial literary education quaking in anticipation. (Some skeptics question the validity of Lee’s groundbreaking announcement, alleging that the book’s publication was coerced from its elderly and unwell author. So.)

:: Lingerie. I’ve been toying around for some time now with the idea of sewing my own bras. On Sunday the February issue of Seamwork came out, and lo and behold, it’s all about lingerie! My subscription gives me access to the lounge bra pattern, and I’ll admit that I’m eager to try it out. (You should note that this issue of the magazine includes many photos of a beautiful and voluptuous woman in a bra and panties. FYI.)
