in the name of autumn

:: In the name of autumn I bought two doughnut pans, and I used them. Their maiden voyage was for a class party for my Sunday School class. I tested three different recipes: chocolate, brown butter, and apple spice. The brown butter was my certain favorite. I made more donuts for Halloween a week later, and planned enough for secret leftovers. Baked donuts are incredibly easy (though slightly tedious), and I will definitely be making them again.

:: In the name of autumn I bought the new Colette Patterns release, Dahlia and signed up for sneak-peeks of the new Colette Patterns digital magazine, Seamwork. Click here to get the updates yourself! As an editor/writer/seamstress, this announcement made my day.

:: In the name of autumn I’m making my packing lists for our Thanksgiving trip to Utah. Usually we go to Colorado to see my family, but this year my sister is having a baby. So our family holiday is relocating. As I’m composing my packing plans, I realize that a big chunk of my suitcase will be handmade items!

:: In the name of autumn I’m reading a classic children’s story for the first time: Emily of New Moonby L. M. Montgomery. I don’t know how I managed to get this far in life without reading this, but I adore it already. And now I’m really in the mood to watch the Anne of Green Gables miniseries.

:: In the name of autumn I decided to take up cross-stitching again and found the cutest Christmas design in an Etsy shop. I’m torn on whether or not I’m going to start now or wait until my Thanksgiving trip. What would you do?

What have you been doing in the name of autumn?

I love the “Emily of New Moon” Trilogy. Most people have never heard of it. My parents got it for me when I was in middle school and loved it even more than Anne of Green Gables. I’m glad you like it.

This series makes me want to cozy up with cocoa under a quilt! I love finding a good read.
