an impromptu Thanksgiving post

I wasn’t planning on posting anything until tomorrow, but here we are. I’m spending Thanksgiving in Utah with my people, who now includes my two-week-old niece, and I don’t think she’s spent more than a few momentsĀ not being held. Our Thanksgiving dinner is a little modified this year, given that we’re not celebrating at my parents’ house, but nevertheless it will be delicious.

We spent yesterday baking pies: I took care of the pie fillings and my mom tackled the pie crusts. I’ve never had much success with pie crusts. We pumped out one pumpkin and two chocolate cream. Sure, we’re only feeding seven people this year plus a toddler, but hello, we need a leftover chocolate pie. Because the thing is that chocolate pie is the best of All the Pies.

My heart is filled with gratitude for all the good things, things like chocolate pie and hot cocoa, andĀ also things like a healthy child, a loving husband, and a happy set of family who are My People. I’m thankful my charcoal Mabel and the sparkle bow tights and cozy ballet pink sweater I’m wearing today. I’m grateful for the purpose and light that fill my life all thanks to my Savior. I’m thankful for all the good things, and even some of the not-so-good things.

May you enjoy your day of Thanksgiving, whether that involves family or friends or pie or rolls or a lucky combination of all those things. I’ll pop back in tomorrow with an quick announcement about something I’ve been prepping all month long. Happy Thanksgiving all you Americans!

Love reading your Blog and catching up via social media. You look beautiful and your younger sister is as stylish and smart as both you and your sister were/are. Sending you lots of love as I take a break from grading Packets and other assignments this week. Hugs xoxo
