the cure for the lonely day

I’m back in Oregon, though not quite feeling up to being back into the full swing of things. Leaving my people is never easy for me, and the days following my return always leave me feeling a combination of loneliness and melancholy. I had a fantastic time, complete with early birthday cake and some serious fabric shopping. Later this week I plan to post all about my remarkable fabric haul and reveal a new summer dress. But for now, I might give myself another day of mild wallowing complete with watching old seasons of Project Runway and snacking on cookie butter from Trader Joe’s.

Whenever I leave my people, I’m always sad about it, and so I mentally list all of the things I have to look forward to about coming back to normalcy. This time sewing is at the top of my list. I scored some serious bargains in my shopping, and have my fall sewing cut out for me (though, you know, not literally). I have plans for t-shirts, sweater dresses, more pencil skirts, and even a little chiffon number. For a girl who has such a finicky relationship with summer, I plan to welcome autumn with open arms and sweater knits. I’m on the proverbial edge of my seat waiting for yellowing leaves and morning cups of cocoa.
